In view of the dire predictions for drought and disaster this Summer (believe that if you like! ) I thought I would share some pics of our garden, which hasn't been watered for about 13 years (except for new plants and tubs).
When we moved here I decided that we would go "Drought Garden", the key components of which were a membrane to cover the entire 40ft x 40ft plot followed by around 4 tons of local shingle. Plants are then stuffed into the ground thorugh holes in the membrane, watered in and left to get on with it. Any that can't cope are replaced with more that can (what my Grandmother called "Survival of the Fittest" after some bloke called Darwin)
this is where I do the bulk of my Bugs, Bees and Butterfly shooting
As you can see, it works, in fact our biggest problem is getting rid of the self-seeding plants to others!
