    Dahlia (with new lens)

Just got a used canon 18-200 lens, mainly for my hols..
Tried it with an extension tube on a dahlia, it was easier to focus than my 17-85Canon, so think it will be a good acquisition.
    Comments welcome.
#2 looks darker than it did in photoshop last night!!

Do like the first one, the square crop is just perfect for it... as for the second one, there is just something about it... it keeps drawing my eye, I do like how you've caught the light on the edges of the petals.

Thanks Di, #2 - the sun was shining through the kitchen window in the evening (the kitchen table is my'studio' when it's too windy) and just lit up some of the petals. - the dahlia really is a very dark red and survived the cold last winter.

Like them both the petals look almost like velvet, quite like the darkness of #2 although there are some petals just lurking in the shadows, not sure if they are needed. Looks like you are going to enjoy your new lens.
