    Caterpillar ID please

We spotted many of these caterpillars living in colonies protected by cocoons. I feel I ought to know the species (thought at one point it was a form of Fritillary but now I'm not sure and have given up searching. I wondered if any of our resident "Bugologists" may be able to ID it for me. (shot using my trusty 70-300 LIS on 7D)

My camera is helping to look at the world more closely, then record what I see to share with others.

I think I've finally cracked this one from its description and habitat - its "Brown Tailed Tussock Moth" (one of many species capapble of creating a nasty rash with the loose hairs from their furry little bodies and tails)

Looks about right from the Google images I have seen. Great detail from the 70-300 macro lens
