Yesterday evening we did a late evening/sunset shoot on the beach - not my usual thing but good fun

Like the set up though I feel it's a bit on the dark side. OOF foreground lump is a bit off-putting though...

Interesting concept Stan, I would have preferred to see the models right hand as well as the left. Though I suspect that missing hand may be down to the location.

Yes it is a bit dark but the shoot was intended to be low light just with what natural light was available and this shot was around half an hour before sunset. I can lift it some more in photoshop but then looks not quite how it was at the time of shooting

This was a camera club shoot overseen by a professional photographer, also a club member and who has a lot of experience with this sort of shot and we have a meet on Tuesday to review so i will be interested to see what he thinks

To me it looks like the subject is just crying out for balanced flash.....I think it would be really impacting.....I'm not saying it should be done like that or that any rules should be followed...I totally respect that this might be the effect wanted which is fine.

often there is no right or wrong - a similar shot was tried by most of the photographers so i will be interested to see what they came up with and whether everyone is similar or there is a wide varience
