My first baby shots on DSLR light from window, would like to remove traces of mum from behind, but I lack the skills especially around the hairline.

Both are shots that I would be proud of. Love the reflection in the eyes in both shots and love the rim lighting in the 2nd shot.

Arghhh ! aren't they all cute at that age. (even I was cute once)
I love the concentration in #2 and although you say "Didn't quite nail the focus on #2" I think you have nailed it with a softer focus.

I think they are lovely shots. Wish I had had a better camera when mine were born (16 and 18 years ago)
