    Bin Muckin Bout.

I took nine shots altogether and in the pitch black, I thought the Police and the Fire Brigade were going to turn up any minute.

Taken with a remote as I am the one swinging the lighted steel wool around. Very dark clothing, a hat and gloves are a must if you want to avoid singed hair.

    Canon 1Dx + 24 - 70mm f2.8

    F16, 20 seconds, ISO100, AWB

    Tripod + remote

WOW! That looks amazing. Weren't you bothered about some flying off and hitting your camera?

The "Master" returns with a vengeance.... setting a new standard of winter challenges..... water drops last year...... burning steel wool this year

A great shot showing what can be achieved with a bit of imagination.

You can almost see the master inside the glob. A sparkling success on your return Colin. +

A first on the forum as well. Seen loads of shots elsewhere but looks quite dangerous and can never work out quite how its done - how do you set fire to wire wool - douse it in petrol first

Seriously , an excellent shot but would like answers to the above - not that Dee would ever let me try it

I use a metal whisk attached to a dog lead and stuff the whisk with wire wool then light it, it only smolders(think that's the right word)but once you start swing the whisk around all hell breaks loose and bits of burning metal flies everywhere, gets very dangerous at this point and great care should be take.

                        Re: Bin Muckin Bout.

I have done it in a similar way to that described by Paul the main difference was that I used 2 of the wire caps used to keep birds / animals out of the top of drain pipes, I found the larger area gave me a better burn. But if you do this take care it can get very dangerous.

Thanks for the explanation - still dont think I will try it

Makes you wonder where these ideas come from in the first place - maybe from someone who wanted something a bit more exciting than a sparkler
