    World Coal Carrying Championship 2013

Wasn't sure where to put this one as it's quite a quirky event.

This morning I ventured out to the village of Gawthorpe where they held the world coal carrying championship.
The event is over 1km long and ends at the village maypole.
Competitors carry a 50kg sack of coal and run to the finish line with the fastest time recorded of 4 minutes and 6 seconds.
This is one shot I took just as they started.

I wonder how many of them are coal delivery men.

Is the blurring at the edges a border style?

What a coincidence. I had some coal delivered last week, and the guy turned up knackered! He had just run all the way from Poland.

Yes Di it is, I just wanted to dull down some of the edge.
