    Hi Bodger,

Nice set - I went yesterday and was very disappointed in the air display, from a photography point of view. Aircraft were flying much to far away. I even went home early, I was that peed off with the performance. Those people who stayed outside and therefore didn't pay a penny got far and away the best show. I won't be paying next year, if I go, I'll be stood the other side of the hedge looking in!

Neil, When it became apparent the best location was elsewhere, why didn't you move ?
This is not a pedantic question , just puzzled why you’d stay put, and go home early rather than anticipate the situation and adapt.

I am surprised at Neils comments, I like hundreds of other people was standing alongside the runway, I do admit that sometimes I wished I was using a 400mm rather than a 300mm lens but if you check out my results I don't think I did too bad..

                Hi All,

Trev, Its really wasn't worth the long walk to get around to the other side - the naughty field. In years gone by the display line was straight up and down the runway, which meant you got pictures like this........

However, the display line has been changed so it ran approx. 60 degrees to the runway. This meant you were forever looking at the underneath of aircraft - which starts to answer Bodger's comments. Now I would've posted a couple of pictures taken on the day, but Photobucket won't let me download them, for the time being. This is the sort of picture I want to take - looking on top of the aircraft and close up - taken at this years Flying Legends.

The problem with the display line from the paying side - was you're forever looking at the aircraft underside (not that interesting). Whereas in the naughty field you're looking at the top side.
I would just say to, the cameras and lenses I was using were a 1DX + 300 f2.8 with x1.4TC and a 1D iv + 100-400mm L lens so it doesn't get much better from a camera dept point of view.

                TTFN,
                Neil

Cheers Neil, I can relate to that for sure, a forced march with heavy kit isn't much fun :-)

                        Hi Bodger,

I don't know if you're interested - next Saturday afternoon I might be over at the Catton Hall club, which is just down the road from Litchfield, doing a sort of photoshoot on a mates new model aircraft. A lot depends on the weather and a couple of other things, but if I do go and you want to over I'm sure you'd be most welcome.

                        TTFN,
                        Neil
