Emirates A380 Airbus - Glasgow today

Had the rare opportunity to photograph the Airbus flying over my wee town today. I heard it was coming in at 12:30 so I drove to a place where I knew it would give me a good run of shots.

Pity it was backlit but I still got the shot I wanted. This is full frame with no cropping and using the 400mm f/5.6 too.

It had to abort the landing and flying round again so I got a second go at it correcting the under exposure of the previous attempts.

    Was pretty cool :)

Well that looks pretty well exposed and nicely placed in the frame.

It's a big ol beast isn't it? However much I know about positive and negative lift, aerofoil sections and momentum, it still amazes me that something weighing many, many, tons can fly. Especially when I only weigh a few stone and no matter how much I flap my arms, I only end up falling down!

          Good image Paul.
I life very near Heathrow and have yet to join the regular spotters for a photo opportunity. Must give it a go sometime.

Cheers guys. What's made it more special is that it only flew into Glasgow to celebrate 10 years of Emirates being there. Probably won't see it again. Glad I hauled my caracas 5 miles to get the shots lol

Nice one Paul, they are quite impressive inside as well. I had a seat at the fifth window from the front on our recent trip.

I kind of did get wet feet Dee lol. I had to walk over a sodden land to get to the vantage point. I'd say it was more rare than a Kingfisher in Glasgow that day too lol
