    Old biplane warbirds...

    Enjoyed a great afternoon at Old Warden weekend before last at Shuttleworth's Pageant display... Well worth going to...

    First up, a few old biplane warbirds...

    1. Gloucester Gladiator Mk1



    2. Avro Tutor



    3. Hawker Tomtit

      Very good Lee - enjoyed looking at these. What kit were you using? Interested in how close you were to the action. Regards John

        All images are 70D + 100-400; manual exposures; ISO200, Tv's of 1/160 - 1/200 and then Av's to give me +1EC between f/11 and f/14.

        Old Warden is a much smaller & friendlier field than the big power shows; it's all a much gentler pace

        Apart from the Tomtit which was at 300mm, all others are between 135mm & 160mm, so you're quite close to the action.

        The evening light, if it plays ball (as it did last week) is superb... After mid-afternoon the sun is nicely behind at c. 4 o'clock ish. The Hind was shot at 17:50 BST, hence the nice golden glow...

        They have a final evening show of the year planned for September 20, and a closing show on October 5; details linked from here...
