    Experimental railway set

Seeing it was another really nice day i went out to survey a position for taking photos of a future Steam Hauled Excursion in our area featuring the A4 Pacific Bittern . I found what looked l;ike a good spot using The Google Maps Satellite view and went down this afternoon . Luckily the Railways provided 4 trains when we were there , even though 2 were on the wrong track . This is my first attempt for many a year at photographing moving trains......
(All photos Canon Eos 7D set on Tv with 70-300mmL Lens)

IMG_0147 by Gordon_H61 Taken nearly on the Bridge , thought this was maybe too tight an angle....

IMG_0263 by Gordon_H61 Moved slightly down the road giving , to me , a better angle .

As i said at the Top the 7D was set on Tv . I alternated on my full shooting between One Shot AF and A1 Focus AF and also between Single Shooting and high Speed Continuous .
Any help / guidance from you guys who shoot Steam Locomotives regularly would be much appreciated

      Re: Experimental railway set

Very Disappointed , due to the continuing extremely hot and dry weather tomorrows Steam Hauled Excursion on the ECML with Bittern has been postponed . Was so looking forward to photographing her in full flow tomorrow , was just thinking it was going to be a lovely sunny day for it......
Bet they re-arrange it for when i'm away on holiday!

          Hi Peter ,
It is on Wheatleywell Lane , Plawsworth , between Chester-le-street and Durham . You should have some good places in North Yorkshire , especially on the "Race Track" . I think the current weather will be playing hell with all the Steam Operated Services , should imagine the NYMR will have cancelled theirs ?

Edit - Just had a look on the NYMR Facebook Page , apparently The Sir Nigel Gresley returned from York today Via the ECML under Diesel power but from Monday will be running on the MYMR under it's own power , no steam ban on there ! Oh and there's a Timetable Photo comp going on at the moment.....
