    Monte bound Minis

The Scottish contingent of this years Monte Carlo Rally set off from Paisley this evening. I just had to get a few images! These were some of the many cars on show there. The area was very well cordined oiff so was really difficult to get anywhere near any cars, but here's my attempt. They are all handheld with my 70-200f4L, with rediculously slow shutters.

Thanks for sharing this set Gary 👍I really like the first image well done. They reminded me of having to change the rear subframe on one of mine, happy days 😀

Thanks Peter. Ah, the days when you could strip and rebuild a car on your own! Without needing a degree in electronics, physics, engineering.........

Much prefer the "real" Mini to the pastiche of the new one - not saying the new one's not a good car, just not a real Mini. You've got the essence of the thing there.

Any shots of that Imp, given it's only a few miles from its birthplace?

Thanks Doug and nickorando! I don't think I have a shot of that Imp, but I do of a couple of others. I'll try and post them later. They did make a big thing of the Linwood heritage, but not too many Imps. Quite a few Avengers though

Good set, it's a real pity that bloke was bending over in the second, the reflections from his bald patch distract

                    Re: Monte bound Minis

You did well hand held with those slow shutter speeds

Looks like a gathering for a vintage car rally.

Back in the 60's, a mate of mine had a Hillman Imp, and it wouldn't pull the skin off of a rice pudding, so I hope that one can cope with the Monte Carlo.

The Imp engine was derived from the same unit as the Coventry Climax Formula One engine, so could be tuned easily and successfully, albeit generally requiring a replacement cylinder head.

                        Thanks Les and Dave.
The Imp is known for doing well in rallys, in the right hands! Also really easy to tune for hillclimbs. I've seen some ridiculously large engines sticking out the back of these things
