    What are the advantages of having dual processors? Is it just a speed issue or does this have any quality implications?

      As far as I am aware, it is only speed.

      With the 1 Ds, you need two processors to handle the large files quickly, so that you are not waiting for the processor to write to the card. With the 1 D, the files are not as large, but the twin processors ensure that you can shoot at 10 frames pers second without waiting for the processor to write to the card. In practice, the buffer takes up the slack and it only becomes a problem if you are working the camera to the max.
