    Canon or Sigma 70-300 stabilised

Hi folks I have posted this query on a different thread but fear it may be lost there!
Which of the above lenses to go for? Both have stabilisation but the Sigma is about £100 cheaper and has a lens hood too.
However, as the price differential is not that great it would not be my main issue. What I wanted to know if one is regarded as being better than the other in terms of build and image quality.
I can't find any reviews on the Sigma which is only recently on the market but is it that different from it's predecessor the version without OS /IS ?
I would be using it on a 50D.
    Advice please.

Hi Pipnat, Are you near to a shop that will let you try the lenses on your camera? Can you hire them for a trial?
I just exchanged a Sigma 18-200mm OS (filter size 78mm) for a Canon EFS 55-250mm IS (filter size 58mm), and I have not obtained the expected results except the lighter equipment which was the priority, I thought!!
