    Re: 16-35 lens calibration

I had a play around with this: http://regex.info/blog/photo-tech/focus-chart#interpret
After trying it with all of my lenses I decided not to change any of them. That said apart from the 70-300 none of them are very long. There were some very slight differences but given my lack of experience with doing this and being generally happy with my results I left it well alone.

      Re: 16-35 lens calibration

I bought the Canon EF16-35 L 2.8 lens WITH great expactions.....have been above unsatisified with this lens. At 16 mm it is so distorted ,you cant make out what the images is...does anybody else have this problem? After checking reviews on this lens it seems to be a bad choice..Even on a tripod the images are NOT SHARP...I have been a Canon user since 2000,still love the equipment. The lens does ok at 28-35 mm...
I just bought a Canon EF 24-70 f4 L IS lens, and this lens is a hundred times better than the 16-35...I am wondering if this a quality control issue, or just defective lens.... thanks for your input.

I use the cheaper version the F4 and find it a stunning lens - its very sharp right across the board even when wide open as I'm often shooting at F4 due to poor light - I would be sending it back something isn't right

It's surprising that your lens seems to be be performing poorly, seem to recall that in reviews it was well regarded. Might be worth trying on another body.

              Re: 16-35 lens calibration

Just had the lens checked by a camera repair shop... all the elements are out of wack, being sent to Canon in New Jersey to be repaired..It has been this way since I purchased it..too bad I waited too long for a warranty repair, but hopefully it will be fixed.

                  Sorry to hear Gregory
Not something you expect when you spend so much money!
Hopefully it will soon get sorted and put some faith back into the lens.

I use FocusTune with LensAlign Target from Michael Tapes in the USA, a bit pricy for some but it gives excellent results and all my lenses have needed adjustment.

                        Re: 16-35 lens calibration

I have the same camera and lens too, but for me the 16-35 didn't need any adjustment when using the Reikan software. I bought the software because I felt that my EF 135mm f2 needed some micro-adjustments, I had trouble with front focusing on the longer shots.
