Not sure, there was some mention about stand alone version but as you say little info at the moment.

I think it would be a bad move if it was lease only - It works on PS as its a advanced / pro tool, but LR is aimed towards the amateur market ... we'll find out tomorrow, maybe LOL

I think the HDR/pano functionality makes this almost a must have for me. I could then pretty much not bother with Elements anymore, those 2 functions being the only time I use it. Can't remember when LR5 launched but I think somewhere in the region of 18-24 months ago. Assuming a similar time until LR7 then buying is still cheaper, albeit without access to CC which I probably don't need .. until someone comes along and tells me I do :)

Petapixel.com are reporting standalone will be available as LR6. Misses a couple of things that the subscription based CC has.
Adobe today announced its latest version of Lightroom, called Lightroom CC. The update brings faster performance, some revamped tools, and a set of

£103.88 to purchase the FULL version of LR6. That is direct from Adobe's web site. I haven't come across an upgrade version which I think was available last time and would be a bit less.

Or £8.57 a month for the CC version of LR6 plus PS. It's not bad value really - the cost of just over a couple of pints of real ale a month for some pretty powerful software. I'd be interested to hear from anyone who has gone down the LR CC route if it has enhanced their experience over the standalone version.

Usually if you have purchased lightroom within the last 30 days prior to release you can upgrade to LR6

Seems like standalone is available as LR6, but that's it. No more upgrades ever. Future upgrades will be added to the CC version only. Looks like Adobe's promise to have LR permanently standalone has now gone into the ether.

I'm not sure that's true, I've just seen a response to a question about this by Victoria Brampton (aka The Lightroom Queen) it seems Scott Kelby answered a question in which his choice of phrase suggested no more perpetual versions beyond V6! Victoria believes that the perpetual licensing will continue. time will tell [emoji85][emoji87][emoji86][emoji6]

I'm sure the perpetual licensing will continue. I'm also sure that LR6 will be the last standalone version. Yes they will support it - as it is - but all future upgrades will go to the CC version so they haven't actually broken any promises. Just bent them - like politicians and salesmen the world over!

has anyone moved from licensed copy to CC ?

depending on the features the new LR CC offers I may consider moving to it espceally as its looking like all further improvements will be on CC - but my concern is upgrading and making sure all the meta data and information I have on my current LR5 gets carried over to LR6 CC

Ian I don't use the creative cloud version (yet) but my previous version upgrades on the perpetual licence have always converted the previous versions catalogue without any issues. But....I would suggest doing a catalogue backup prior to upgrading

                              cheers Peter

I've just been chatting to a guy that was using LR5 and PS CC ( same as my set up ) and just logged into cloud and clicked on the LR6 upgrade app and it did everything fine with no errors - took about 10 minutes to upgrade and no loss of meta data..

As I'm paying to use PS CC its a no brainer to not upgrade but as I've got loads open (work) on my Mac so I'm not upgrading till a time when I can reboot which hopefully should be sunday - but yes I agree I will fully backup
